DIBH for left-sided breast radiotherapy: Does this equate to a reduction in OAR doses?

DIBH for left-sided breast radiotherapy: does this equate to a reduction in OAR doses?

In response to evidence that cardiac doses received by patients undergoing left-sided breast radiotherapy lead to an increased risk of long-term radiation-induced cardiovascular side-effects, this study seeks to determine whether it is possible to reduce cardiac dose by implementing deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH) with forward-planned IMRT.

Click here to see the findings which were submitted to ESTRO (European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology) and underwent peer review at its four-day annual event in Vienna, Austria.

DIBH is available to all capable and eligible left-sided breast cancer patients in all our centres.
