The New Year festivities may be well and truly over, but so far, 2016 has bought us plenty to celebrate. Following the acquisition of Cancer Partners UK in July last year, by Australia’s largest provider of radiotherapy services, we now have our new name - GenesisCare. The appointment of Paul McPartlan as our new UK General Manager and the launch of our brand new, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment centre in Kent are just three factors that are helping us to build a brighter future for cancer patients in 2016.
Paul McPartlan spent a number of years in healthcare before joining Cancer Partners UK as its Operations Director in 2013. His in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer pathway, coupled with his strong leadership skills and sound commercial insight, made him the perfect choice to lead the development of the GenesisCare brand in the UK and continue its success in delivering exceptional patient care through providing precise and sophisticated cancer treatments.
The Opening of New Centres Across the UK
The opening of West Malling Diagnostic & Treatment Centre, based at Kings Hill, near Maidstone, Kent brings the number of GenesisCare centres to nine in the UK.
This new facility follows a similar model to GenesisCare’s latter two UK centres, in Milton Keynes and Oxford, providing fast access to outpatient consultation and screening services along with diagnostic and chemotherapy suites and the latest generation linear accelerator (Linac) which is able to provide very accurate radiotherapy treatments.
Complementary to services provided by local NHS and private providers, West Malling Diagnosis & Treatment Centre will focus on delivering early diagnosis and rapid access to treatment for patients with breast, urological and gynaecological conditions.
Dr Russell Burcombe, Consultant Clinical Oncologist (Breast), says West Malling Diagnostic & Treatment Centre shall bring a valued service locally to complement what the NHS service delivers. He said: “This new centre is great news for patients in the area and I believe together, through this private healthcare centre we can make a real difference to people’s lives. The facilities it will provide us with are very impressive and an extremely exciting proposition for the area.”
Paul McPartlan says: “I am looking forward to the benefits GenesisCare will deliver for cancer patients, with a focus on innovation, the sharing of global best practice and investment in the latest technology and treatment techniques. In addition, we are really looking forward to collaborative working with our NHS partners, so that we can provide the best possible results for patients across the UK, closer to their home and workplace.
“I’m also excited at the opportunities it will bring to our staff. Sharing best practice across all job roles, greater learning, and a real focus on research and development means they will be able to play a significant part in the company’s growth. We are already planning to have 11 centres open by the end of this year.”
