What better way for Elstree Cancer Centre to celebrate their 5th Anniversary last week, than with a glamorous party and fashion show which saw breast cancer patients brave the catwalk and raise a whopping £9,000 for Breast Cancer Care, a charity which many of the centre’s patients hold dear.
5th Anniversary Event
The event, which was attended by nearly 200 patients, staff, doctors, surgeons, consultants, family and friends included a dinner and dancing, but the main event was the fashion show which was co-hosted by celebrity guest Michelle Heaton.
All the models were breast cancer patients at Elstree Cancer Centre who are currently undergoing treatment or have recently finished and it’s fair to say, as the photographs show, they all had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed dressing up in the splendid evening and cocktails dresses and hitting the catwalk.
The show was made possible thanks to the time, effort, support and generosity of many local businesses that provided everything from the dresses and hair and make-up, to the photography and décor.
Jill Padayachee, ex patient, Breast Cancer Care Ambassador and the event’s organiser said: “Over the past five years, Elstree Cancer Centre has treated well over a thousand patients. On reflection of my own experience, I truly did have some special times and I absolutely cannot fault the level of care I received. The fashion show tonight highlights the strength and courage of the patients that are treated at Elstree and I applaud our amazing and inspirational ladies for proving that cancer can and will be beaten!”
Kelly Bullen, Centre Manager for GenesisCare UK at Elstree Cancer Centre said: “Tonight is a celebration of past and future success for the centre. Since opening five years ago, we have all worked very hard to develop our service and provide a unique experience for our patients. We’re very proud of the technology and service we can offer as well as such a dedicated team of cancer specialists, from consultant oncologists, to radiotherapists and chemotherapy nurses. They are all wonderful”
