GenesisCare has announced plans for the launch of a new diagnostic and treatment centre at 17 Kings Hill Avenue, Kings Hill in November 2015.
The specialist centre will provide outpatient consultation and screening services along with diagnostic and chemotherapy suites and the latest generation linear accelerator (Linac) which is able to provide very accurate radiotherapy treatments.
Complementary to services provided by local NHS and private providers, the centre will focus on delivering early diagnosis and rapid access to treatment for patients with breast, urological and gynaecological conditions.
Central to GenesisCare's proposition is its radiotherapy service and patients will have access to targeted radiotherapy treatment techniques including image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH).
These techniques are accurate ways of delivering radiotherapy that can be particularly effective for many types of cancerous and non-cancerous conditions with minimum side effects.
Steve Bird, chief executive at GenesisCare UK explains:
“At GenesisCare our ethos is built around providing patients with the most optimal treatment and care, whether that be helping patients every step of the way in our dedicated medical centres or through providing the most effective radiotherapy treatment. Each patient will receive the optimal treatment most appropriate to them in a timely fashion with the minimum of disruption to their everyday activities. We provide centres and services that can be readily accessed and provide advice, results, holistic support and targeted treatment quickly and effectively.”
“We are delighted to be opening a diagnostic and treatment centre in Kent and we look forward to working alongside the local medical community and cancer support charities in order to provide more patients with access to the very latest care pathways and treatment technologies.”
To support the centre, GenesisCare works alongside Penny Brohn Cancer Care who through its Living Well programme, is able to provide cancer patients with advice, support and holistic care in order to help them and their families at a difficult and emotional time.
Andrew Blevins, managing director of Liberty Property Trust, developers of Kings Hill, says:
“I'm delighted that GenesisCare, a national organisation, has chosen Kings Hill for its new treatment centre. Letting 50% of our newly refurbished office buildings is a great way to start 2015.”
Dr Russell Burcombe, Consultant Clinical Oncologist (Breast), says the new centre shall bring a valued service locally to complement what the NHS service delivers. He said:
“This new centre is great news for patients in the area and I believe together, through this private healthcare centre we can make a real difference to people’s lives. The facilities it will provide us with are very impressive and an extremely exciting proposition for the area.”
GenesisCare will keep the local community up to date with all developments at the centre before the launch in November 2015.
